RESEARCH

To provide some inspiration for my project I have begun by researching existing animators, Melanie Jackson and David Shrigley.

Melanie Jackson's animations involve fast cycles of images and collage, creating a very dynamic and lively visual display. The animal noises over the animation also provide some humour to the piece. In Melanie's animation I also noticed the subtle change in background, this is an affective way of enhancing certain parts of the animation as colours such as red and orange convey a more vibrant visual display for the viewer.

Unlike Melanie Jackson, David Shrigley creates a large quantity of illustrations and compiles them into an animation. I find his work very amusing as he manages to create bizarre characters through his quirky illustrative style. The part of the animation in which the old ladies are knitting is in fact the same illustration only flipped with the colours changed, this is an effective visual element as it creates not one but four different visual points.
